The Stephensons know manufactured and modular housing. While Steve supervised interstate highway construction during the 1960s, the family often relocated, and manufactured housing was usually their best option. They lived in both planned communities and on individual homesites, and Steve and Maggie learned a lot about what they liked, and what they wanted to change, in both manufactured homes and manufactured housing communities.

Redbud Estates, Indiana’s preferred landlease community, was purchased in 1977. Steve liked the community because of its attractive design. Soon afterward, their home sales operation became one of the first to offer turnkey home sales: personally guiding home owners through the home purchase, siting, installation, permitting and financing processes. As Maggie says, 'No one else was getting this involved in helping their home owners through the maze of permits, sewerage and water system installation, home siting and financing -- but we wanted to make it easier for our customers. It just made sense to us.' The idea was a good one, and Redbud Homes grew.

The Redbud companies continue to expand. Phil Stephenson, a corporate pilot, entered the family business in 1979, and now manages operations and sales. Redbud Estates nearly tripled in size, and the family develops innovative and attractive landlease communities throughout central Indiana. A new sales center opened north of Westfield. The Redbud family now includes several sales, operations, and development specialists, all working to create better housing environments for you.

The focus is still on delivering the best quality and highest value to the customer.
